"You'll never do a whole lot unless you're brave enough to try."

-Dolly Parton

Joy began working at Albemarle in 1995 as a Parent Volunteer and a member of the P.T.0. Joy was hired to be the Custodian in July of 1997. Since then she has held many positions in many different capacities. Joy began working as the Assistant Librarian in 2003, becoming the Head Librarian in 2004 when Ms. Lynn Taylor retired. Ms. Joy is starting her 24th year at Albemarle School and has accomplished many jobs while working here.  Being in the library going on 19 years has given her the chance to watch many Albemarle students grow.  She has gained many “children” over the years. She loves to see them enjoying a great book.  In addition to her librarian duties, Ms. Joy has been the score keeper for the basketball teams and says that job has been a great joy and privilege to watch the teams for more than 20 years.  As yearbook advisor since 2005-2006 the changes of the Equestrian for the past 5 years have made her very proud to be a COLT. Her father-in-law was part of the original founders of the school and sent three of his four children to graduate from Albemarle, one of which is her husband. Both of their daughters graduated from Albemarle and have returned to work here with their mother. Joy Banks is lovingly referred to as the "Albemarle Historian" as she can quickly spout off all sorts of facts and details regarding the school's history. She most enjoys reading in her spare time and especially likes to pass on that enjoyment with all the students.
