Inspiring Excellence and Character in a Nurturing Environment!

Founded in 1965, Albemarle School welcomes students from the seven counties of the Albemarle region.  We are an affordable private school focused on individualized learning.  Our students are encouraged to excel academically, to achieve athletically and to evidence honesty, kindness and good citizenship.

Albemarle School offers a vibrant preschool program for children ages two through five.  Our K-12 program provides a safe, nurturing environment and a well-balanced curriculum.  Our Dual Enrollment Program gives upper school students the opportunity to earn credit in both high school and college level classes.  Our graduation rate is 100%, and recent graduates have gone on to success in the US Armed Forces, Elizabeth City State University, East Carolina University, UNC-Wilmington, NC State CALS, and Campbell University.

Education that Matters

Albemarle School provides an educational experience that combines classroom instruction with hands-on learning and innovative, personalized teaching methods. With small class sizes our teachers are able to provide a considerable amount of individual instruction.  Albemarle School’s faculty is observant and flexible, always searching for new ways to motivate and encourage each child.

Albemarle School is committed to providing a well-rounded education to our students.  Students have the opportunity to compete interscholastically in varsity and junior varsity sports, and to participate in a variety of student clubs and organizations.

Through our volunteer programs, students learn the importance of community service.  Off-campus learning, including field trips, job shadowing and the Business Internship program, offers students real-world application of their studies.

Our campus is located just south of Elizabeth City on Highway 17.  Situated on 10 acres, it includes administration and learning buildings, a free-standing cafeteria, a gymnasium and sports fields.
